Martin and Lois (Westerhold) McCormick are celebrating 65 happy years together on Feb. 11. Isn't it amazing that they look exactly the same after all of these years? Their children and grandchildren request that family and friends shower them with cards to honor this special anniversary...

Everett and Pat (Goble) Prough, of Schell City, Mo., will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary from 1 to 3 p.m., March 1, at the Schell City Community building. The couple was married in Lawrence, Kan., on Feb. 27, 1955. They have three children and three grandchildren...

Sheldon grants director Phyllis Sprenkle sought direction from the board concerning the Scrap Tire Surface Material Grant, which would provide $10,000-$20,000 to the city to be used for a new ground surface in the playground, or $25,000-$50,000 to be used for non-playground areas such as the city's trails.. ...

There were several firsts in the recent Polar Bear Bass Tournament held Sunday on Stockton Lake. Ashley Ruggles, a senior at Hillcrest High School, along with her mother, were the only females in the tournament. The 17-year old student proved her fishing ability by bringing the limit of five bass to the weigh-in that weighed more than 17 pounds including one fish that tipped the scales at more than 7 pounds...

The Lady Tigers of Nevada and Warrensburg met in a fast-paced dual at Wynn Gymnasium Friday night, with Nevada triumphing 58-39. With the victory, the Lady Tigers improve to 17-3 (7-2 West Central Conference). Senior center Rilie Good easily controlled the tip off and fellow senior Morgan McNeley wasted little time getting in the scoring column, draining her first basket of the night just five seconds into the contest...
