During that time the council voted 5-0 to approve the reappointment of Jenise Burch to a three-year term on the Nevada Regional Medical Center board of directors. This will be Burch's second term on the board, which expires Dec. 31, 2019...

Ash Street to consider the streets to include in the 2017 street construction program. The construction is paid for with a ½ cent sales tax that generates about $700,000 annual. The enabling legislation for the sales tax required the city to spend at least $500,000 on new street construction, with the remainder available for other street maintenance work...

In its second road contest of the season, the Cottey Comets (2-1) fell to the North Arkansas Lady Pioneers 82-65, Monday night in Harrison, Ark. The Comets had their hands full, as North Arkansas entered as the No. 4 ranked team in NJCAA Division II women's basketball...

There wasn't much suspense during Tuesday night's Nevada Middle School seventh and eighth-grade basketball games, as both of the Lady Tiger teams hammered Joplin North. The Lady Tiger eighth-grade "A" team beat Joplin North 44-7, improving to 7-0, while the NMS eighth-grade "B" team prevailed 11-2 in a two quarter contest. In the "A" game, Nevada's Rebecca Cox dropped in a game-high 10 points, while Eden Fisher led the way in the "B" game with a half dozen points...
