Last week, I was making my annual Christmas gift list. The foremost names on that list were for my grandchildren. Like most people, I find great enjoyment and pleasure, in this giving process. In a Tuesday night Golden Valley Vernon County Conference doubleheader, the Sheldon Panthers defeated the Bronaugh Wildcats 55-41, while the Lady Wildcats bested the Lady Panthers 49-20. The victory improves the Panthers to 5-2 overall and 3-1 GVVC-play, while Wildcat fall to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in GVVC-play. Meanwhile, the Lady Cats' up their record to 6-1 overall (2-0 GVVC), while the Lady Panthers are now 0-7 overall (0-4 GVVC)...

The Hume Lady Hornets suffered its third consecutive loss, falling to Montrose 47-23 Tuesday night at home. The Golden Valley Vernon County Conference loss brings Hume's record to 4-3 overall and 3-2 in GVVC-play. Hume trailed 15-12 at halftime and 28-21 heading into the final frame. Two Nevada High School standout student-athletes, Hunter Mason and Branden Harder, have been named to the Missouri Class 4 Academic All-State Football Team.
