It is with great sadness that the family of Vonda Marie Landis announces her passing after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease, on Sunday, May 6, at the age of 77 years. Vonda was born May 22, 1940, in Van Buren, Mo. She worked as an L.P.N. her entire career, until her retirement in 2009. Vonda and her son moved from Kansas City to Nevada in 1976 where she worked for many years at the Nevada State Hospital, ultimately relocating back to Kansas City in 1991...

Laura Sue Nichols, 51, Nevada, passed away on Sunday, May 6, at her home in Nevada. Laura was born Jan. 13, 1967, in Ft. Knox, Ky., to Robert Lee and Sandra Sue (Baker) Thomas. She attended school and graduated from high school in Broken Arrow, Okla. Laura has resided in Nevada for many years...

About two weeks ago, for the first time in a while, the double manual Flemish harpsichord owned by Cottey College was tuned and used in performance. It was used by adjunct piano instructor, Peggy Graves in a repertoire class. On Tuesday afternoon, pulling it out of its storage area, next to the concert grand piano, Dr. Dyke Kiel, emeritus professor of music — he retired in 1983 — pushed it onto the stage of the 490-seat Missouri Recital Hall in the Haidee and Allen Wild Center for the Arts...
