A whirlwind week culminated this past Friday night with a second consecutive district championship crown for the Nevada Lady Tiger softball team. A 3-2 victory over Pleasant Hill propelled the Lady Tigers to the Missouri Class 3 state tournament, playing host to Oak Grove Wednesday evening...

The Nevada Lady Tiger volleyball team dominated from start to finish en route to a two-set sweep of the visiting McDonald County Lady Mustangs Tuesday night at Wynn Gym. Bronaugh — The Sheldon Lady Panthers flexed their muscle, powering past the Northeast Vernon County Lady Knights in the Golden Valley Vernon County (GVVC) volleyball tournament championship match on Saturday. To get to the championship match Sheldon first dispatched Ballard in two sets, and then split a two-set match with Miami. NEVC's path to the title match included a two-set defeat of host Bronaugh, and a split with the Hume Lady Hornets...

Nevada Middle School's seventh and eighth-grade football teams hit the gridiron, splitting a pair of road matchups with Cassville on Thursday. It was a sweet weekend on the hardwood for the Nevada Lady Tiger volleyball team, sweeping to their second consecutive first-place finish at the Clinton High School-hosted tournament. Nevada's 5-0 record on the day started with a two-set win over Hillcrest High (25-12, 25-16). The Lady Tigers then drilled Osceola (25-11, 25-18). The two-set victories continued, as Nevada drubbed Warrensburg (25-14, 25-18)...

The Cottey Comet volleyball team knocked off Crowley Ridge for a third time this season. Matching up against the hosts on Friday in Paragould (Ark.), Cottey made it three-for-three with a three-set sweep of Crowley. Cottey edged Crowley 26-24 in the first. The second set was also hotly contested, as the Comets prevailed — 28-26. The Comets then put the cherry on top with a convincing 25-15 third-set triumph...

Fresh off their GVVC Conference Tournament championship over the weekend, the Sheldon Lady Panther spikers have continued their winning ways. In a rematch of Saturday's GVVC title match, Sheldon dispatched the Northeast Vernon County Lady Knights in two sets, Monday at home.
