United Way of Vernon County’s Oktoberfest was held Saturday Oct. 8. There were 12 chili teams sponsored by the Missouri Eagle LLC competing for trophies, awards and cash prizes. First place and $100 went to “Astville to Bondville” Jeff Bond and Derek Ast; second place and $50 to “Old Hot Chili Peppers”, Nicki Ast and Myra Bond; and third place and $25 went to “’Snot Hot”, Jim Miller. All three winners donated the prize money back to United Way...
