Jessica Sloniker, Nevada/Vernon County Chamber of Commerce executive director, has been busy preparing for the annual Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet for the community which was held Friday at the Eagles building. Despite the untimely arctic wind blowing in from the north, guests arrived in festive Floridian flare with Hawaiian-style attire and some even donning shorts, in keeping with the evening’s theme of “Margaritaville.” The gathering included awards, a tiki bar, a buffet dinner, music by Brother Zehr, a silent auction and raffles from local business donations.. ...

Tigers Junior-Varsity baseball undeterred

JV Tigers got their season started this weekend with two games at the Lamar Showdown. First game against Lamar went into extra innings but the Nevada Tigers couldn’t keep the lead and lost 5-6. The second game against Mount Vernon was a bit more lopsided, with the Tigers beating the Mountaineers 10-2.
