Nevada Defeats Monett in Home Opener at Logan Field (High School Sports ~ 08/30/24)
The 2024 version of the Nevada Football Tigers opened their season last night at Logan Field. The Tigers played host to the Monett Cubs. Monett is coming off an 0-10 season in the fall of 2023. The Tigers, 9-3 last fall and eventual district champions, were 48-7 winners over the Cubs in last year's conference matchup at Monett. The 2023 Tigers had a high-powered offense that averaged just under 37 points per game while the talented Tiger defense allowed under 17 points per contest. Of the three losses on the 2023 campaign, two schools went on to state championships (Lamar and Kearney) and the other Tiger loss came at the hands of the Seneca Indians who finished state runner up in Missouri Class 3. Nevada finished the campaign with a 6th place rank in Class 4.. ...
