CARTHAGE, Mo. -- Nevada High School girls tennis team kept its perfect Southwest Conference record intact with a 7-2 win over Carthage on Tuesday. The Tigers (3-1, 2-0) won five of six singles matches and two of three doubles. Nevada's No. 1 singles player Gina Pendrak did receive a bit of a scare. Pendrak, cruising with a 5-1 lead, suddenly found the match knotted at 5-5 as opponent Alex Serrell had reeled off four straight games. But Pendrak regrouped and won the next three to capture the win, 8-5. The Tigers host Neosho on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. Nevada coach Dennis Pendrak termed it "a pivotal match," as both teams sit, undefeated, atop the conference standings. Results Singles 1.
