Lady Tiger netters capture second straight dual match

JOPLIN, Mo. -- Nevada High School girls tennis team won its second straight with a 6-3 victory over Thomas Jefferson on Thursday. The Tigers won four of six singles matches and two of three doubles. Nevada coach Dennis Pendrak was pleased with the team's performance, particularly the No.'s 4, 5 and 6 singles players, Jessica Ferree, Meredith Hoberock and Emily Teepe. "It was a good test for us," he said, "to see how we stack up against a team similar to ours." Added Pendrak, "The bottom three played very well tonight." The Tigers (2-1) 2002 state-qualifying doubles team of Gina and Lisa Pendrak kept its record unblemished with a third-straight win. In junior varsity competition, Sophomore Lauren Compton recorded her first-ever high school win. Nevada travels to Carthage for a Southwest Conference match on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Results Singles 1.
