100 Years Ago -- May 21, 1903

REPORTED FROM RICHARDS --A. Comstock shipped a carload of feeders from his farm near Laharp, Illinois. Mrs. Phelps of Neosho, who has been visiting her parents Dr. and Mrs. J.D. Todd, left on the 11:40 train for Rockville to spend a few days with her grandparents. Rev. C.J. Wilson of the Chicago University will occupy the pulpit at the C.P. Church Sunday. Rev. Wilson was pastor of this church a few years ago and will be a great pleasure to have him with us on that day. Farming prospects are very discouraging here at present on account of the continued rains. The road drag is all right. Use it and you will be thoroughly convinced. Dr. Tom Todd, who was kicked by a horse last week is recovering and is able to attend to business.

75 Years Ago -- May 21, 1928

CAMP CLARK HAPPENINGS -- A contract for a new tile canteen building and Y.U.M.C.A. addition has been awarded to Contractor Kelly. More improvements have been made at Camp Clark including the U.S. Rifle Range. During the past two years more improvements have been made than in any previous years.

50 Years Ago -- May 21, 1953

AROUND TOWN -- The parade route for the Budweiser white mule team and model brewery wagon, which is being brought to Nevada this weekend by the Nevada Distributing Company, was announced today by A.W. Vanderford. The route for Friday's parade, which will begin at 11 o'clock, is from the Irv Cobb Garage east on Walnut Street to Commercial, south on this street to Highway 71. The route will continue west to the highway to the Square, around the Square and north on Cedar Street to Atlantic. During their stay in Nevada, the white mules and brewery wagon will be on exhibition at the Irv Cobb Chevrolet Agency. SCHOOL NEWS -- The 109 members of the Class of 1953 will receive their diplomas at Commencement Exercises in the High School Auditorium beginning at 8 o'clock tonight. Dr. Fred McKinney, professor of psychology at the University of Missouri, will give the commencement address. Hubert Fowler, president of the Board of Education, will present the diplomas to graduates. He will be assisted by W. Garland Keithly, principal. President and Vice President of the Class are Jerry Frizelle and Jim Haubein.
