100 Years Ago -- December 12, 1903

Booneville is somewhat agitated over the preparations being made by Wm. L. Duck to move his plant from that place. Mr. Duck has decided to go to an Illinois town somewhere in close proximity to St. Louis.

This looks like Booneville's opportunity if it wants an ice plant and at this day of abundant conveniences, ice plants have become a necessity to every town of the pretense of Boonville. Nevada has two ice plants and good ones at that.

75 Years Ago -- December 12, 1928

Pursuant to their custom established six years ago, the American Legion is this year making arrangements for the Annual Community Christmas Tree for the less fortunate and under privileged children of Nevada. This custom has met with growing favor in the community each year with the result that many citizens and organizations of Nevada have desired to help in this worthy charitable work. There is joy in giving.

50 Years Ago -- December 12, 1953

RICHARDS- The Missouri Utilities Company, which has taken over our electric service, is erecting new poles about town. The Topaz Chapter of O.E.S. of Garland, Kansas, has been invited by the local Dorcas Chapter to put on the work for four candidates for initiation Monday night. Wednesday night, December 9, closed the year's term as worthy matron of the Dorcas Chapter, O.E.S. for Mrs. Mary Fletcher.

Installation will be held Friday night and Mrs. Della Ueberrhein will be the installing officer.

Charles Lawson, who was injured recently at school, has been dismissed from the hospital but is still unable to attend school.

The friends of Dr. J.W. Martin will be pleased to learn that he has sufficiently recovered from his three-year illness to be back in his office again.

MONTEVALLO -- Packages from the Montevallo Church have been mailed to boys from this community who are overseas. The packages will also soon be sent to those who are located in camps in the States.

A second shipment of twenty-four pounds of clothing was recently sent to Korea and candy and more clothing are being packed to be sent to needy Koreans.
