Clara Jeanette Foster

Clara Jeanette Foster, 96, Lamar, Mo., died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004, at Barton County Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was born March 30, 1907, near Jerico Springs, Mo., to Simon Peter Collins and Lillie Hunter Sears Collins. She was married in Stockton, Mo., Aug. 11, 1923, to Eddie Lawrence Foster who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Foster and her husband lived a few years in Kansas City, Mo., then lived on farms near Jerico Springs, Mo. For several years she worked on the farms and also worked at the Nevada State Hospital for 11 years. In 1963, they retired from farming and moved to Sheldon, Mo. Mrs. Foster belonged to the Senior Citizens group in Sheldon, Mo., and served as president several times.

Survivors include one daughter, Virginia Wallace, Moore, Okla.; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and 13 nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death was her husband Lawrence; son, Harold; great-grandchild, Grant Foster; her parents; seven brothers, George, Willie, Euel, Walter, Edward, Roy and an infant boy; five sisters, Myrtle, Miriam, Lucy, Eunnice and Dora.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Beeny-Ferry Funeral Home, Sheldon, Mo., with Ron Franklin officiating. Interment will follow in the Anna Edna Cemetery, Jerico Springs, Mo.

Friends may call Sunday between 1 and 5:30 p.m., and Monday from 9 a.m., until the time of service at Beeny-Ferry Funeral Home, Sheldon, Mo. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 6 to 7 p.m.
