Youth wrestlers medal at Pittsburg meet

Spenser Daniels, representing the Nevada Youth Wrestling Club, claimed the championship in the Cadet 160-pound class at the AAU Missouri National Challenge meet held last weekend at Northwest High School in House Springs, Mo.

Other Nevada Youth Wrestling Club members, 25 strong, competed in a meet at Pittsburg, Kan., on Saturday.

Nevada wrestlers garnered 21 medals:

2nd place -- Zane Shepherd, Trey Pritchett, Slade Stiles, Trey Manes, Scotty Bough, Mason Heard, Ronnie Herda and Jerrod Alexander.

3rd place -- Kieran Cain, Tanner Charles, Sam Ellifrits, Todd Brier, Jordan Hagerman, Tommy Hagerman, Nash Smith and Ryan Herda.

4th place -- Caleb Shanks, Luke Christensen, True Beisly, Chris Crew and Alex Christensen.

The next tournament is scheduled for January 10 at Seneca, Mo.
