Loreta V. "Reta" Goddard

Loreta V. "Reta" Goddard, 80, of Richards, Mo., died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2004, at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada, Mo. She was born on March 3, 1923, the daughter of Albert Thomas and Rose Cash Thomas. Reta was a graduate of Richards High School. She married Earnest "Chub" Goddard on March 19, 1943, in Fort Scott, Kan. Mr. Goddard preceded her in death on April 22, 2002. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W., Ladies of the Nile, and the Lady Love Bug Mirza Shrine. Reta was a member of the Community of Christ Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Judy Batchelor, Milo, Mo., Sandy Thomas, Fort Scott, Kan., and Bonnie Willoughby, Joplin, Mo.; two sisters, Pauline Smith, Nevada, Mo., and Rosie Graham, Shawnee Mission, Kan.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Reta was preceded in death by a sister, Corrine Weyant and a brother, James L. Thomas.

Elder Joe Rei will conduct funeral services at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 19, at Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday evening at Cheney Witt.
