Bronaugh locks up conference crown in brawl with NEVC

WALKER, Mo. -- The Bronaugh Wildcats completed an undefeated conference season with a hard-fought 61-53 win over Northeast Vernon County on Friday.

Bronaugh, led by junior swingman Tyler Judd who poured in 37 points, improved to 16-5, 6-0 in the Vernon County Conference.

Joe Coy (19) and Dustin Terry (17) combined for 36 points in the losing effort.

The Knights fought back from an eight point second-quarter deficit to tie the score at 31 at halftime.

Bronaugh crept ahead 42-39 as the third quarter expired.

"Fortunately for us, we finished the third quarter strong, took a three-point lead into the fourth and held on for the win," said Bronaugh coach Tim Judd.

Bronaugh meets Dadeville on Monday in a boys only matchup.

Bronaugh girls win

The Bronaugh Lady Wildcats won their second straight and third of the season with a 46-43 victory over the Lady Knights.

Bronaugh led 25-15 at the half, 33-26 at the end of the third quarter, then held off NEVC in the fourth.

Brittany Mart paced Bronaugh with 16, while Karenza Frame and Sara Shaw added 11 apiece.

Lamai Loyd and Katie Foreman topped the Lady Knights with 15 and 14 points, respectively.
