Ellen Imogene Howell

Ellen Imogene Howell, 86, Nevada, Mo., passed away Monday, March 22, 2004, at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born on Aug. 27, 1917, in Metz, Mo., to Claud Ashby Tough and Ola Johnston Tough. She married Bob Howell on Feb. 14, 1941. He preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 1986.

Imogene resided in Metz and Nevada throughout her life. She was active in various business ventures of her family including mercantile, dairy and real estate. She was also an active member of the United Methodist Church for decades.

Survivors include three children, Gaye Baldwin and her husband Mark, rural Nevada, Claudia Whitman and her husband Steve, Sparta, Mo., and Mike Howell and his wife Sheila, Nevada; one brother, Derwood Tough and his wife Anna Mae, rural Nevada; seven grandsons, six great-grandchildren and four nieces.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Friday, March 26, 2004, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, Mo., with the Rev. Ralph Clark officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends Thursday from 7 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the United Methodist Church, 500 S. College, Nevada, Mo., in her memory or in care of the funeral home.
