The Nevada Elks are holding a gun show, an event they hope to become an annual event. Individuals and vendors from all over the area converged on the Elks Bingo Hall to show off their wares. Some had rifles and shotguns, some had accessories like scopes and decoys, some specialized in certain types of weapons, but they were all there to buy, sell and trade.

The Elks are raffling off a Ruger 40th Anniversary 10/22 Carbine at noon on Sunday. Tickets are $1 per chance or 6 chances for $5 and you do not need to be present to win.

Don Levi had a wide collection of knives at his table. "It's like collecting baseball cards, once you get started it's hard to stop. Over time you get to know a lot about the stuff you collect. You collect information as well as the knives."

El Dorado Springs real estate agent Jack Tough had a table displaying a variety of hunting supplies including decoys, knives, and other supplies including a light that clips on the bill of a baseball cap. "It's light, only about an ounce and takes two watch batteries and the light is from an LED (Light Emitting Diode)," said Tough's assistant, Ginny Henderson.

The turnout was light early Friday evening but several people at the show speculated that the warm spring weather was to blame. "Maybe if it were clouded up and raining we'd have a better turnout," said one vendor. "Don't use my name, I don't want to be blamed if the weather turns wet."

The gun show runs through the weekend, closing at 3 p.m. Sunday.
