Charles Heckadon

Charles Heckadon, 73, Willamina, Ore., died April 12, 2004, in the Veterans Administration Hospital, in Portland, Ore. He was 73. He was born Sept. 14, 1930, in Rich Hill, Mo., son of Andrew Joseph and Luella Josephine Campbell Heckadon. He was raised in the Midwest before joining the Navy in 1952. He served four years, including duty during the Korean War that ended in mid-1953.

Mr. Heckadon moved to the Northwest in 1956. He and Carol Jean Cox married May 22, 1956, in Willamina, Ore. He was head custodian for the Willamina and Sheridan schools from 1985 to his retirement in 1999.

Survivors include his wife of Willamina, Ore.; two daughters, Linda Carol Scott and Ellen Lou Mathis, both of Willamina, Ore.; a sister, Wilma Hobson of Butler, Mo.; two brothers, John Heckadon of Nevada, Mo., and Floyd Heckadon of Windsor, Mo.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, June Cox, and two brothers, Ernest Heckadon and Robert Heckadon.
