Ten Nevada High School athletes will head for Jefferson City Thursday for the Missouri State Class 3 state championships that will held May 28-29 at Lincoln University.

The lone female Nevada representative will be Veronica Mosier, who won the triple jump Saturday at the Class 3 Section 3 meet in Ozark. Others making the trip include Harrison Gage who placed second in the long jump and Eric Atkinson who placed third in the high jump. Atkinson‚s jump of 6-2 was well short of the 6-6 school record he set earlier this spring at the Nevada Invitational Track Meet.

The boys 4x800 relay team of Ben Wilson, Mark Reed, Jon Emery and Jim Fay, will also be taking part. Their qualifying time of 8:38.5 is over 18 seconds slower than the 8:20.1 they turned in to place second in the district meet May 8 in Branson.
