Russell Lee Zilliox

Aimee Dennis and Damon Zilliox, Nevada, are proud to announce the birth of their son, Russell Lee Zilliox. Russell was born at 11:58 p.m., on July 28, 2004, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. He weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces, and measured 20 inches. Paternal grandparent is Gene Zilliox, Moundville. Maternal grandparent is Cheryl Dennis, Raymore, Mo. Maternal great-grandparents are Earl Dennis, Walker, and Helen Ralston, Raymore, Mo.

Obituaries

Virgil Eason

Virgil Eason, 81, Kansas City, Mo., passed away peacefully at the Missouri Veteran's Home in Cameron, Mo., on July 29, 2004.

Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m., Monday, Aug. 2, at White Chapel Funeral Home in Gladstone, Mo. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., today at the funeral home. Ceremony and burial were held at the Leavenworth National Cemetery at 12:30 p.m., today.

Mr. Eason is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Rooney; and three sisters, Lorene Westerlin, Catherine Holt and Rosalee Cross. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and a host of friends. His parents; one sister; and two brothers preceded him in death.

Virgil retired from Burlington Railroad. He also served in the 66th armored regiment recon company, and was awarded five bronze stars and the Purple Heart in World War II.

Deaths

Lloyd Lester Dirck Jr.

Lloyd Lester Dirck Jr., 53, Carthage, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the Tulsa Regional Medical Center, Tulsa, Okla., following a sudden illness. He was born Feb. 19, 1951, in Miami, Okla., to Lloyd Lester Dirck Sr. and Virginia Lee Flournoy Gray. He married Rita Davis on Nov. 4, 1985, and she preceded him in death in March 1991.

He served in the U.S. Army in Germany. He spent some time working for a mining company in Montana. For the past five years be has worked for Hyla Vacuum Cleaning Systems out of Oklahoma City, Okla.

Survivors include his mother, Virginia Gray, Carthage formerly of Nevada; three sisters, Phyllis Dittmar, Pittsburg, Kan., Joyce Snodgrass, Carthage, and Janice Dirck, Galena, Kan. formerly of Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Lester Dirck Sr.; his stepfather, Wimpy Gray; and his wife, Rita in 1991.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 5, at National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kan., with the Rev. Verl Strong officiating. Friends may call now and until 9:30 a.m., on Thursday and the family receives friends 7-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.

Zella Renee Maynard

Zella Renee Maynard, 34, died July 30, 2004. Services were held at Olive Branch Cemetery on Aug. 2, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Bill Clevenger officiating. Musical selection was "In the Garden." Pallbearers were Gene Gardner, Richard Tilton, Dennis Smith, Kevin Parrish, Robert Newberry, Michael Lasley and Bill Schultz. Honorary pallbearers were Gene Lasley, Tony Leyva and Gaylord Wallace. Interment was in the Olive Branch Cemetery in Milo. Arrangements by Ferry Funeral Home.
