Ready for the RecFest

Above, Brad Landoll, Mark Jackson and Chip Balk hang a sign at the Vernon County fairgrounds Thursday afternoon, in preparation for the Four Rivers Sportsman's RecFest, a hands-on activity based festival is this weekend, Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., in Nevada. During the event, several venues throughout Vernon County will host interactive games, competitions, and entertainment -- all focused on popular hunting and fishing events and a barbecue contest. Tickets to all events are $5 for those 11 years and older. There is no charge for children 10 and younger. RecFest begins at the Vernon County Centennial Park Fairgrounds at the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 north and U.S. Highway 54 East. Retriever demonstrations and other activities will take place at Four Rivers Conservation Area, just off U.S. 71 a few miles north of Nevada. Visitors can also stop by the Muzzleloaders Black Powder Rendezvous at Marmaduke Park on Saturday. The RecFest is the designated Ducks Unlimited regional four-state waterfowling festival. Several activities offer participants the opportunity to win prizes.
