Obituaries

Thompson Jay Bound

Thompson Jay Bound, 57, Montevallo, died Monday, Oct. 25, 2004, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, following a brief illness. He was born June 26, 1947, in Nevada, to William Thompson Bound and Nellie Opal Smith Bound.

He was raised in Nevada and spent virtually his entire life here. He made his living as a machine operator at 3M in Nevada. He was a Presbyterian. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Survivors include one son, Jason Bound, Springfield; one sister, Donna Mayfield, Overland Park, Kan.; two granddaughters, Selena Bound and Angelea Bound, both of Springfield; and two step granddaughters, Reed Slates and Jill Slates, both of Nevada. He was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Bound.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Greg Ferree officiating. Friends may call now until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Gregory Scott Means Reynolds

Gregory Scott Means Reynolds, 23, formerly of Rich Hill, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, in Indiana, of injuries received in an automobile accident.

He is survived by his parents, John and Sylvia Reynolds, Rich Hill; one daughter, Kayla Melton, Harrisonville; two sisters, Anita Hufferd, Rich Hill, and Joanie Hayes, Kansas City, Mo.; five brothers, Micheal Reynolds, Brian Reynolds, of New Jersey, Jason Reynolds, Farmington, Mo., Little John Reynolds, Nevada, and Steven Reynolds, Coffeeville, Kan.

Cremation services will be held Friday, Oct. 29, from 7-8 p.m., at the Heuser Funeral Home in Rich Hill. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Gregory Scott Means Reynolds fund in care of the Heuser Funeral Home.

Terry Walter Balk

Terry Walter Balk, 53, died Oct. 24, 2004. Services were held at Rinehart Christian Church today at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Reed officiating. Musical selections were "One Day at a Time" and "Peace in the Valley." Pallbearers were Steve Burchell, Everett Forkner, Tim Forkner, Robert Hughes, Jim Liles and Peery Cash. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Bell, Bob Walrod, George Liles, Paul Driskel, Jerry Driskel, Scott Buerge, Randy Burchell, Maynard Miller and Randy Deboutez. Interment was in Newton Burial Park. Arrangements were by Ferry Funeral Home.

Teresa Nelson

Teresa Nelson, 45, Sheldon, died Oct. 25, 2004, at her home in Sheldon. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at the First Assembly of God Church in Nevada. The family receives friends from 7-8 p.m. Thursday at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Interment will be in Sheldon Cemetery. Family information will be announced later.

William "Bill" Clyde Nelson

William "Bill" Clyde Nelson, 49, Sheldon, died Oct. 25, 2004, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada. He was born July 4, 1955, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Clyde William Marker and Marjorie Joan Fields Marker. He married Martha Brummett in September 1972 and later married Teresa Banes Fraley on Aug. 15, 1996.

He came to Sheldon with his family in 1969. He attended Sheldon School. He worked for Claflin Farms for the past seven years.

Survivors include one son, William Shane Nelson, Sheldon; one daughter, Melissa Dawn Kirbey, Lamar; two grandchildren; three step children, Kayla Fraley, of Wisconsin, Reggie Fraley, of Wisconsin, and Rachelle Fraley, Lamar; mother, Marjorie Hoffman, Sheldon; two sisters, Peggy Bledsoe, Sheldon, and Della Breckenridge, Nevada; one half-brother, Carl Nelson, Washington state; and one step sister, Nora Kennedy, Sheldon. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Nelson; and step father, Louis Hoffman.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29, at Beeny-Ferry Funeral Home, Sheldon, with Shelby Brandt officiating. Interment will follow in Tolson Cemetery, Sheldon. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
