Brandon Michael Hancock

April Hancock, Nevada, is proud to announce the birth of her son, Brandon Michael Hancock. Brandon was born at 4:49 p.m., on Oct. 21, 2004, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. He weighed 9 pounds, 1 ounce, and measured 21.25 inches. Maternal grandparent is Mike Hancock, Nevada. Maternal great-grandparents are Frances and Don Hancock, Nevada. Maternal great-great-grandparents are Elise Hancock, Nevada, and Ruby Gose, Nevada.

Ashlyn Paige Farmer

Ronald Lee Farmer Jr. and Alicia Renee Wiley, Pittsburg, Kan., are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Ashlyn Paige Farmer. Ashlyn was born at 8:14 a.m., on Oct. 27, 2004, at Mount Carmel Hospital in Pittsburg, Kan. She weighed 8 pounds, 6.9 ounces, and measured 19.5 inches. Paternal grandparents are Ron and Rhonda Farmer, Nevada. Paternal great-grandparents are Ama Farmer, Pittsburg, Kan., and Virginia Steele, Nevada. Maternal grandparents are Dan and Rebecca Reedy, Deerfield, and Steven and Janice Wiley, Fairview, Tenn. Maternal great-grandparents are Tom and Jean Tullis, Bartlett, Kan., and Betty Wiley, Oswego, Kan.

Deaths

Larry Kent Cannon

Larry Kent Cannon, 59, of Carthage, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin. He was born on June 5, 1945, in Saint Louis, to Floyd Cannon and Gertrude Mae (Kunkler) Slates.

He was a barber. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He was a member of the Carthage Radio Controlled Airplane Club. He was a member of the Brannon Methodist Church in Chattanooga, Tenn., and attended the First Methodist Church in Carthage.

He is survived numerous cousins. His parents preceded him in death.

Services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 30, at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar, with the Rev. Ron Franklin officiating. Burial will follow at Oakton Cemetery, Lamar.

William "Bill" Clyde Nelson

William "Bill" Clyde Nelson, 49, died Oct. 25, 2004. Services were held at Beeny-Ferry Funeral Home on Oct. 29 at 2 p.m., with Shelby Brandt officiating. Musical selections were "Angels Among Us" and "I Can Only Imagine." Pallbearers were David Brummett, Michael Reaves, Jason Leavell, Rick Turner, Brent Curry, Rob Sewell, Dave Blitz and Tim Burns. Honorary pallbearers were Jesse Ornelas, Charles Claflin and Tim Anders. Interment was in Tolson Cemetery in Sheldon. Arrangements by Beeny-Ferry Funeral Home.

Teresa Lea Banes

Teresa Lea Banes, 45, died Oct. 25, 2004. Services were held at First Assembly of God Church on Oct. 29, at 10:30 a.m., with Ken Fomicola and John Nichols officiating. Musical selections were "I Can Only Imagine," "In This Very Room" and "Jesus Loves Me." Pallbearers were John Houk Jr., Jesse Ornelas, David Blixt, Brent Banes, Phil Banes and Josh Bard. Interment was in Sheldon Cemetery Sheldon. Arrangements were by Ferry Funeral Home.

Juanita Irene Brooks

Juanita Irene Brooks, 86, of Nevada, died Friday, Oct. 29, 2004, at the Prescott Country View Nursing Home, Prescott, Kan. Family information and funeral arrangements will be announced later by Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
