Charlotte C. Earnest

Charlotte C. Earnest, 88, Nevada, died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, at Moore-Few Care Center, Nevada, following an illness of several months. She was born March 8, 1916, in Mammoth Springs, Ark., to Ewing Kirby and Alice Owens Kirby. She married Justin LaVern "Tiny" Earnest on Oct. 18, 1942, in Nevada. He preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1975.

She was born and raised in Arkansas. She came to Vernon County following her marriage and remained here the rest of her life. She worked for many years at Nevada State Hospital, retiring in 1981. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and the Secret Pal's Club.

Survivors include three brothers, Val Kirby, Strawberry, Ark., O'Dell Kirby, Nevada, and John Kirby, Austin, Texas; one sister, Dorothy Warren, Hermitage, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Ferry Funeral Home today, Jan. 25, at 1 p.m., with Shelby Brandt officiating. Soloist was Tracye Moore. Musical selections were "I Can Only Imagine" and "I Sure Will Miss You." Pallbearers were Jime Earnest, Robin Warren, Tom Earnest, Doug Earnest, Don Semler and Jack Farmer. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Hand, Tony Klotz, Jerry Baker and Tim Shepherd. Interment was in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Those who wish may contribute to a memorial fund for Charlotte Earnest in care of Ferry Funeral Home. Arrangements were by Ferry Funeral Home.
