Fire chief urges building owners to add fire escapes

Fire Chief Hackett was out this morning notifying owners of public buildings to place fire escapes in them.

Several of Nevada's "sky scrapers" that are used as lodge rooms and other public gatherings are not fitted with fire escapes now but will be in the near future.

The fire escapes for the Duck buildings have arrived and will be put up immediately.

Missouri Pacific soybean special train to be in Nevada Wednesday

The great increase in soybean acreage last year and the still greater increase evident for 1930 has prompted the agricultural extension service and the Chamber of Commerce to schedule the Missouri Pacific soybean special train for Wednesday.

The train will arrive Tuesday night and will not depart until late Wednesday night. Thus it will be here all day, to accommodate everyone, regardless of when they get here. Not only exhibits of soybeans but also those of the many by-products of soybeans will be ready for inspection on the train. Most important of all, thorough information about producing the crop successfully, will be given gladly.

City-wide Dollar Days

The Retail Merchants Committee of the Chamber of Commerce last night announced plans for holding a series of six "City-wide Dollar Days" during the year, the first of which will be on Friday, Feb. 18.

The committee is urging all merchants, regardless of their line of business, to cooperate in these all out sales promotions to aid in making them a success.

It was the feeling of members of the committee that "honest to goodness" values should be presented to the public on dollar days offering the consumers quality, value and real bargain prices.
