Margaret J. Chadd, 79, Milo, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2005, at St. John's Regional Medical Center, Joplin, following a lengthy illness. She was born July 20, 1925, in Nevada, to James Otis Baker and Bertha Rachel Love Baker. She was married Feb. 14, 1947, in Fort Scott, Kan., to John W. Chadd, who survives of the home.

She grew up in Vernon County and attended Nevada schools. She worked at the Nevada State Hospital in the housekeeping department for 19 years, until her retirement in 1987.

In addition to her husband, John, survivors include, four sons, Larry Chadd, Glenn Chadd, Gary Chadd and John Chadd Jr., all of Milo; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one sister, Margie Spencer, Nevada; one brother, Jess Baker, Nevada; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant son, Johnie Lee Chadd; one great-granddaughter; and one great-grandson; two brothers, James Baker and Jack Baker; eight sisters, Helen Rimmer, Patricia Bliss, Mildred Bullock, Bertha Nims, Delores Rogers, Nellie Hollsworth, Alta Baker and Ruby Baker.

Funeral services were held today, Feb. 15, at Ferry Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m., with John Nichols officiating. Soloist was Phyllis Sumner. Musical selections were "Going Down the Valley" and "The Old Rugged Cross." Organist was Wanda Kannady. Pallbearers were Jack Fox, Steve Harris, Arnold Pettit, David Simon, Quincy Cross and Chester Wright. Interment was in Olive Branch Cemetery in Milo. Arrangements were by Ferry Funeral Home.
