Joseph Andrew Durbin, 27, Pittsburg, Kan., died Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at Mount Carmel Regional Medical Center following a heart illness. He was born Nov. 22, 1977, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Jesse L. Durbin and Virginia Sullivan Durbin. He married Tierra Ford on May 5, 2001, in rural Fort Scott.

He was a 1996 graduate of Fort Scott High School. He attended the Missouri Welding Institute and worked for Mid American Pipe Company prior to his heart illness. He was currently in his junior year studying woodworking at Pittsburg State University. He was a member of the Mary Queen of Angels Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Tierra, of the home; daughter, Aspin Durbin, of the home; his father and mother, Jesse and Virginia Durbin, Fulton, Kan.; maternal grandmother, Wilma Sullivan, Hume; four brothers, Jesse Durbin, Hume, Douglas Durbin, Fulton, Kan., Ray Durbin, Panama City, Panama, and Harold Durbin, Fulton, Kan.; one sister, Maria Durbin, Fulton, Kan.; two nieces; and several cousins, aunts, and uncles.

The Rev. Elbert Ford will conduct funeral services at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery at Fulton, Kan. Darrin May will conduct the Rosary Service at 7 p.m., Tuesday followed by family visitation in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to a scholarship fund for his daughter, Aspin, and may be sent to Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
