Denzil "Dink" Rice

Denzil "Dink" Rice, 94, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005, at Truman Healthcare in Lamar, following a lengthy illness. He was born March 31, 1910, in Jerico Springs, Mo., the son of William Arthur and Minnie (Caldwell) Rice. He married Billie Francis Long on Oct. 17, 1931, in Lamar, and she survives.

He was a life long resident of Barton County, Mo. He was a 1929 graduate of Lamar High School and captain of the football team. He was a retired farmer and home builder. He was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Lamar, Liberal and Golden City Churches. He was a member of the Liberal School Board and of the Barton County School Board.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Nancy Tohill, Omaha, Texas; two sons, Bob Rice, Lamar, and Bill Rice, Barstow, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, and his parents.

Services will be at First Baptist Church in Lamar at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 26. Interment will be in Brasher Cemetery near Jerico Springs, Mo. Visitation will be at the Konantz-Warden Funeral Home Chapel in Lamar on Friday from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
