Youth wrestlers place at Butler

There were 28 youth wrestlers from Nevada competing at Butler Saturday, with 23 earning medals.

Skyler Scotten (shown trying to cradle his opponent), Regar Hardin, True Beisly and Tanner Charles all had first place. Caleb Shanks, Jacob Johnson, Trey Pritchett, Slade Stiles (twice), Tanner Charles, Zach Shepherd, Todd Brier and Taylor Chapman all placed second. Colby Smith, Sam Ellifrits and Jordan Hagerman all placed third. Daxtyn Osburn, Brett Scott, Zane Shepherd, True Beisly and Chase Brooks all got fourth. Trevor Hunholz placed fifth and Chandler Bird received sixth.

The youth wrestlers will be heading to Clinton Saturday, for the final tournament before districts. Districts will be held March 5, in Neosho, with regionals to follow March 12, in Joplin and state March 24-26 in Columbia.

The top six wrestlers at district get to go to regionals and the top four in each region go on to state.
