Allen Laux Cummings

Allen Laux Cummings, 87, Nevada, died Thursday, March 10, 2005, at the Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada. He was born June 15, 1917, in Bates County, Mo., to Hiram George Cummings and Gertie Cecil Moore Cummings. He was married Feb. 12, 1937 in Butler, to Elsie Lorraine Strange Cummings. She preceded him in death Sept. 24, 2003.

He was raised in Bates County, where he farmed with his father until his marriage in 1937. He continued in the farming and cattle business. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Janice Vaughn, Beaumont, Texas; one son, Marvin Cummings, Springfield; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Hazel Rich, Butler; one brother, Glenn Cummings, Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one sister, Annee; and two brothers, Roger Cummings and Clifford Cummings.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, March 13, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with the Rev. Ted Furry officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Butler.

Friends may call from now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening between 7 and 8 p.m.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Nevada First Assembly of God Church or the charity of the donor's choice in rare of the funeral home.
