George W. Francis born Dec. 31,1914, in Lincoln, Neb., the son of Joseph William and Ruth Ann (Gillespie) Francis, died March 12, 2005, at 10:40 a.m. at Moore-Few Care Center in Nevada. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Laura (Hartley) Francis, of the home. Mr. Francis was a member of Maranatha Christian Fellowship.

He is survived by three sons, William and his wife, Vickie, and daughters Ashley, Janette, and Cathy, of Bridgeport, Texas; Harry and his wife, Drusilla, and children Timothy and Teresa Ann, of Indianapolis, Ind.; Thomas and his wife, Joan, and sons Chaz and Brent, of Chico, Texas; step-daughter, Shirley Norwood, of Nevada, with son Kevin Norwood deceased; and daughters, Rhonda Gilliam of Odessa, Texas; and Kimberly Hallcom of Prince George, Va.; step-son Paul Corson and his wife, Barbara, of Columbia, Mo.;and their daughters, Sarah Brackenbury of Blue Springs, Mo. Rebecca Coombs of Warrensburg, Mo., and Rachel Jackson of Columbia, Mo., and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Francis grew up in Lincoln, Neb., and Kansas City, Mo. He attended Northeast High School. He worked for different places of business, one being Quartermaster Depot in Kansas City, and Armco Steel where he was a machine operator for 32 years. He retired on Dec. 31, 1978.

George is preceded in death by five sisters, and his parents.

Services for Mr. Francis will be held at Marantha Christian Fellowship, Nevada, on Wednesday, March 16, at 11 a.m., and he will be buried in Sedalia, Mo., at Memorial Park Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:30-11 a.m. Arrangements are by Shiel Colonial Funeral Home (816) 353-6555.
