Evalyn Mayberry

Evalyn Mayberry, 97, Sun City, Ariz., died Thursday, March 17, 2005, at her home in Sun City, Ariz., following a lengthy illness. She was born in Iola, Kan., to Thomas and Myrtle Breckenridge.

She graduated from Iola High School and attended the University of Kansas, where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. On April 29, 1928, she married Robert S. Mayberry and moved to Wichita, Kan. During their marriage, they lived throughout the western half of the country, including Denver and Evergreen, Colo., Rancho Bernardo, Calif., Nevada, and Sun City. She was a member of PEO and Colonial Dames of America.

Survivors include two nephews, Bryan Breckenridge, of Nevada, and his wife, Patty, and Robert Breckenridge, of St. Louis, his wife, Betsy, and their children Jennifer, Jackie, and Jim. She was preceded in death by her husband and three brothers, Louis Breckenridge, Geneseo, Kan., Keith Breckenridge, Nevada, and Thomas Breckenridge, Toledo, Ohio.

A private committal to be attended by family members will be held in Wichita, Kan., at a future date. Memorials may be given to Cottey College, 1000 W. Austin, Nevada, MO 64772, or Faith Presbyterian Church, 16000 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ 85351.
