Founder's Day tradition

Tuesday, April 5, 2005

Cottey College alumnae cross Austin Boulevard during the college's traditional alumnae parade, part of Founder's Day Weekend activities. Founder's Day is celebrated each year in late March or early April. The observance began while the College's founder, Virginia Alice Cottey was living. It was originally a celebration of her birthday, March 27. Today, alumnae return to visit their alma mater, attend special events and renew friendships. This year's event was conducted April 1-3, with several reunion activities. A fireworks display was also presented on Friday night.
