Loren Joseph "Lonnie Joe" Emmerich, 67, of Holiday Lakes, Pleasanton, Kan., died Friday, May 6, 2005, at his home. He was born March 1, 1938, in Osage Beach, Mo., the son of Paul Joseph Emmerich and Lenora Ann Williams Emmerich. He married Velda Kain Lister on Feb. 11, 1968, in Independence, Mo.

He grew up, in Kansas City, Mo., and attended the East High School. He was a veteran serving with the United States Air Force. He owned and operated his over-the-road business for Tran's Am Trucking Inc., Olathe, Kan. Illness forced his retirement this year from his trucking business. He recently received a 10-year safety award for having no trucking accidents. He was a member of the Pleasanton First Baptist Church and a former vice president of the board of trustees of the William Jewell Baptist Church in Kansas City, Mo.

Survivors include his wife Velda, of the home in Pleasanton; four sons, Randal Thomas Emmerich, Clanton, Ala., Loren Joseph Borum, Kansas City, Mo., Steven Joe Emmerich, Alabama, and Roger Dale Lister, Farmington, Mo.; and two daughters, Cathy Ann Carr, Independence, Mo., and Cynthia Louise Davis, Sibley, Mo.; three brothers, Charles Thomas Emmerich, Booneville, Mo., Donald Lee Emmerich, Eldon, Mo., and Richard Paul Emmerich, Alma, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Louise Rinehart; and a grandson.

Funeral services were held today at 11 a.m., in the First Baptist Church in Pleasanton with the Rev. Jim Landrum officiating. Burial followed at 3 p.m., in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Pleasant Hill, Mo., under the direction of the Cheney Witt Chapel.
