Dorothea Denyse Weltmer Detloff

Dorothea Denyse Weltmer Detloff, 86, Nevada, died Monday, May 23, 2005, at Moore-Few Care Center, Nevada.

She was born June 6, 1918, in Nevada, to Ernest Cyrus Weltmer and Dorothee Hoffman Weltmer.

Denyse attended Nevada Public Schools and graduated from Nevada High School in the Class of 1936. She was a 1938 graduate of Cottey College with a Music Major. In 1940, she moved to Boise, Idaho, with her parents and resided there until October 1943 when she married Warren William Dettoff, a Yeoman with the United States Navy. They made their home in Oakland, Calif., while her husband, Warren, was stationed in San Francisco. Following World War II, Mrs. Detloff moved with her husband to Orinda, Calif. Mrs. Detloff loved gardening and was an avid athlete in her youth, excelling in tennis and golf.

Denyse Detloff was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Dorothee Weltmer; and brother, Sidney Pierre Weltmer, of Nevada. She is survived by her daughter, Caryn and her husband, Robert Scharf, of Woodland, Calif.; granddaughters, Lisa Dunnahoe, of Portland, Ore., and Debra Kane and her husband, Tim, of College Station, Texas; great-granddaughters, Sophia and Anya Kane, of College Station, Texas; and sister-in-law, Ruth Weltmer of Nevada.

Following cremation, interment will be in Newton Burial Park in Nevada, with her beloved brother and parents. Arrangements are being handled by Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. No services are planned.
