Nevada's new railroad project still to

move forward

A letter from President McDonough of the proposed Kansas City, Nevada and Springfield railroad-- written from Chicago--says he is busily engaged interesting capital in his railroad project and meeting with encouragement. He further states that he expects to return to Nevada inside of three weeks fully equipped to build the road.

This is good news for Nevada, providing McDonough has the encouragement he seems to think he has.

A night baseball game here tonight

There may be "nothing new under the sun," but the residents of Nevada will have a chance tonight to see something decidedly new under the floodlights as the Mo. Pac. Boosters club of this city meets Dr. Stewart's Stockton team in a night baseball game. The exhibition contest, the first of its kind ever to be played here, will be played at the fairgrounds, starting at 8:15 p.m.

Baseball is only the latest of the nation's sports to be placed under artificial illumination by the never tiring electrical engineers and scientists.

No charges filed in Deerfield assault

Vernon County Prosecuting Attorney James Woodfill announced yesterday that no charges as yet have been filed against Allen Cash of Arizona.

Woodfill said he is postponing a decision until all testimony and evidence has been considered.

A coroner's jury Thursday night found that Harold Wileman of Richards came to his death May 7, following a "felonious assault from a blow on the head from Allen Cash."
