Post-storm steam raises concerns
Wednesday, June 8, 2005
Firemen stand in front of a home in the 1100 block of Douglas, called to the scene by a neighbor who observed what appeared to be smoke coming from the garage of the residence. But the heavy, hazy substance rising from the structure turned out to be steamlike fog rising from surfaces after a brief thunderstorm yesterday afternoon. This was the second such false alarm Tuesday. It was reported that immediately following the storm the heavy, steamy fog was so thick that drivers were turning on their headlights. The first false alarm call after the storm was a report of a tree on fire.
