Mother Nature watered the track for us Friday night and early Saturday, but this didn't stop us from racing. It was an exciting evening as the $1,000-to-win Modified Special was on tap and Kevin Morrow, last year's defending track champion, was able to put the check in his pocket. Drivers drew for starting positions and the heat finishes determined their starting places in the Features. Join us each and every week this year at the biggest little racetrack in the country to catch all the action.

Late Model heat race winners were Jack Simmons, Erie, Kan., and Mike Boultinghouse, El Dorado Springs. Simmons and Boultinghouse battled for the lead at the start of the Feature with Boultinghouse getting the position. Bill Humble Jr. found out that the cement wall doesn't move and this resulted in a yellow flag. Boultinghouse led the field down to the green flag to restart the race. Justin Hoepker and Melvin Baxter both got sideways resulting in Hoepker spinning out and the yellow flag flew. Boultinghouse was again in the lead for the restart. Boultinghouse and Simmons battled for the lead all the way through the race with Boultinghouse claiming his third win of the season.

Modified heat race winners were Brian Bolin and Ron Bolin Jr., both from Fort Scott, Kan. Brian and Ron Bolin made up the front row in the Feature and raced side-by-side around the track before Brian was able to take the lead. Brantlee Gotschall spun bringing out the yellow flag and closing the field behind Brian for the restart. Jeff Douty spun in front of several cars who were able to avoid him and another yellow flew. Brian Bolin led the field to the green flag for the restart. Kevin Morrow had been patiently working his way from back in the field and gained the lead as Brian Bolin had a flat tire and the yellow flew again. This time Morrow was in the lead for the restart and held it through the balance of the race to claim his second win of the season and the $1,000 prize money. The win moved him to fourth place in the points standings.

Street Stock heat race winners were Jerry Morgan, Fort Scott, Kan., and Craig Spencer, Liberal. Spencer took the lead at the start of the Feature and was checking out when Darren Danner coasted to a stop on the track. This brought out the yellow flag and closed the field behind Spencer for the restart. Spencer got a good jump on the restart and never looked back as he claimed the win, his fourth in a row.

Factory Stock heat race winners were Henry Whaley, Harrisonville, and Shawn Hendren, Nevada. At the start of the Feature Slade Williams went for a spin in the mud which caused an original lineup restart. Hendren got the lead. A yellow flew as Ken Layman and Joles collided causing Joles to have steering problems then Brian Welliver and Tiny Joles got together, sending Welliver bouncing in the air. Hendren was again in the lead for the restart. Joe Pryor tried to pass on the inside of the track but Hendren was able to maintain the lead and claim the win -- his second of the season. After tech inspection, second place Pryor was disqualified.

Mini Stock heat race winners were Dewayne Applegate, Boliver, and Brent Knight, Jasper. Knight got the lead at the start of the Feature with Applegate right beside him for several laps. Applegate got the lead but went high in the corner and Knight again claimed the lead. Lance Coulter spun bringing out the yellow flag and closing the field behind Knight for the restart. Applegate was challenging Knight most of the race until he had a flat tire and pulled to the pits. Knight captured his fifth win of the season.
