Memorial Day Flowers should remain on graves

Dear editor:

We all know the importance of putting flowers on our loved ones' graves. We do this out of respect and because we love them. The question I have is this...Why should we have to cement our decorations down? This year we had a decoration stolen off of one of our family members grave. What is up with that? Do you thieves not have something better to do than to go to Newton Burial Park and drive around and swipe decorations off of someone's grave? Get a life! Some of us make our own decorations ... we use the same stands and baskets over again. You would be surprised how a little paint or soap and water makes something brand new again. Next year I suggest you all find something better to do with your time than stealing decorations off of the graves. Maybe try making some of your own! Leave my families stuff alone!

The next thing is an announcement that has ran in the Nevada Daily Mail on the classified section from Newton Burial Park ... it stated that all flowers needed to be picked up by June, 24, 2005. Well, when I went out Sunday, June 19, to retreive the flowers I found that one had been stolen and others had all ready been removed! The grass had been mowed so I know that they had been removed because they were flat sprays on the ground and were placed there with long prongs to secure them, thus they didn't blow away! Since those particular family members, great-grandparents, have no other family but us to decorate for them I know they were not removed by anyone that would be relatives. If we are told that we have until the 24th day of June to remove our flowers than that is how long we should have.

Thank You,
