Harvey Mason Heard

Harvey Mason Heard, 67, Nevada, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at his home in Nevada. He was born Dec. 24, 1937, in Tyler, Texas, to Gilbert Lynn Heard and Marion L. Mendenhall Heard.

He graduated from high school in Amarillo, Texas. He lived in the Sheldon area from 1961 to 1976 and then went to work for various telephone companies. He retired from Verizon in 2003 and came back to Vernon County where he has lived since.

Survivors include three sons, Christopher Heard, Denver, Colo., Craig Heard, Nevada, and Eric Heard, Los Angeles, Calif.; two daughters, Amy Kowaleski, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Rebecca Propri, Davie, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and one brother, David Lynn Heard, North Carolina.

Graveside services were held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, July 2, at Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon, with Bill Visalli officiating. Singers were Monty Gordon, Tom Reed and Darrell Wright. Musical selections were "Amazing Grace" and "Empty Saddles." Interment was in Sheldon Cemetery.
