Alfred L. Keithley

Alfred L. Keithley, 68, Milo, died Thursday, July 7, 2005, at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, following a brief illness. He was born Sept. 6, 1936, in Walnut Shade, Mo., to Arthur Lee Keithley and Dorothy M. Estep Keithley. He married Melva Smith on Dec. 29, 1961, in Nevada, and she survives of the home.

He graduated from Nevada High School in 1954. Alfred served in the U.S. Army from 1959-1961, during the Korean Conflict. Alfred worked for the Nevada State Hospital for 38 years. He also worked for the city of Nevada for two years following his retirement. He was a member of the Milo Baptist Church and the Nevada Elks Lodge No. 564.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Melva, include three daughters, Cindy Smith and her husband, Jimmy, Nevada, Janet Forkner and her husband, Doug, Nevada, and Lisa Franklin and her husband, Alan, Blue Springs, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Mandy Smith, Matt Smith, Trevor Smith, Ragan Forkner, Kyle Forkner, and Erin Forkner, all of Nevada, Morgan Franklin and Alex Franklin, both of Blue Springs, Mo.; one niece, Dixie Thompson, Leavenworth, Kan.; and one nephew, Frank McGrath, Milo. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Leona McGrath; and one brother, Lois Keithley.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Monday, July 11, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Mark Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Milo Cemetery, Milo. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends 6-7 p.m., Sunday, July 10, at the funeral home.
