Prewitt gets scholarship

Sunday, July 17, 2005

Rachel Prewitt was awarded the 2005 Jack Swearingen Scholarship worth $1,000 recently from First National Bank. The scholarship is given annually to a graduating Nevada High School golfer who is furthering their education. "(Prewitt) was by far the most qualified," David Swearingen, President and CEO of First National Bank, said. The scholarship is given to someone who plays golf for the Tigers and contributes to the team. The scholarship, in its 14th year, was set up in 1992. Prewitt will be attending the University of Missouri-Rolla in the fall where she will study biochemistry. "My best friend played golf my freshman year and I just fell in love with it," Prewitt said.
