Gas rush

Customers flocked to area gas stations yesterday, after the news broke that Hurricane Katrina had struck the major Gulf ports in Biloxi, Miss., and New Orleans. Analysts and citizens alike were guessing that the natural disaster would mean a dramatic hike in the price of fuel at the pump. Prices at most stations throughout Nevada rose to $2.57 per gallon for regular unleaded yesterday. The rate at many of the same stations, including the one above, hit $2.69 this morning.
