Lady Tigers drop opener

The Nevada Lady Tigers fell to College Heights in Joplin Tuesday in their season opener.

Nevada fought hard for three games but came up just short as the home team registered a 25-23, 23-25 and 25-18 win.

The Lady Tigers were led by junior middle hitter Brittany Crockett who led the team with 13 kills. Crockett also had five blocks and 10 digs.

Kellie Cooper played well defensively, accounting for 14 digs to lead Nevada.

Other big games were turned in by Bethany Brower and Ashleigh Bryson.

Brower came through with five kills, five blocks and six digs for the Lady Tigers.

Bryson had four blocks, four digs and a team-high 15 assists as the setter.

The Lady Tigers will again be on the road Thursday as they take on Harrisonville.

Nevada does not have a home volleyball match until Sept. 15, when they host Neosho.

Before then the Lady Tigers will travel to Carthage, Diamond and McDonald County for matches, and also to Willard for a tournament.

In the junior varsity match Tuesday the Lady Tigers won 25-23, 9-25 and 25-22.
