A short rain delay postponed the start of Saturday evening's event. The Show Me Late Model Racing Series came to Nevada Speedway Saturday, which along with our regular racing, made lots of action for the hardy fans to enjoy. Some of our regular Late Model racers joined the Late Models from the Racing Series and had some decent finishes. Bill Humble Jr. finished fourth and Marty Danner ended up in sixth place in the Feature. All drivers drew for their starting positions in the heats and those finishes determined the starting places in the features. We still have more racing action to come this season. Saturday will be a regular race and Sept. 17 will be Outlaw Night along with the Ugly Truck Contest. You don't want to miss any of the action so join us each and every week this year at the biggest little race track in the country to catch all the action.

Show Me Late Model heat race winners were Jim Greenway, Galena, Jim Fulp, Aurora and Kevin Henson, Marionville. Michael Wilson got the lead at the start of the Feature. A red flag flew as Ken Essary, Jim Fulp and Mike Madison all tangled and had the track blocked. Wilson was in the lead for the restart. Another yellow flew as Ken Patterson ended up against the retaining wall and Shannon Anastosopolos ended up in the infield. Wilson once again led the field to the green flag. Wilson and Kevin Henson built up a good lead as they raced for the position. Chris Hawkins spun into the infield, which brought out another yellow flag and closed the field behind Wilson for the restart. Wilson held off Henson to claim the win. Two of our local drivers posted good finishes in the Feature. They were Bill Humble Jr., collecting fourth place, and Marty Danner posting a sixth place finish. Good job guys.

Modified heat race winners were Bob Kerbs, Nevada, and Ron Bolin Jr., Rich Hill. Kerbs got the lead at the start of the Feature with Dusty Campbell trying to chase him down. Kerbs led start to finish and collected his first win of the season.

Street Stock heat race winners were Denny Chrisenbery and Doug Chrisenbery, both from Bronaugh. The front row of this Feature was the Chrisenbery brothers. After two starts where Denny got the lead and a yellow flew, the third restart resulted in Doug getting the lead, but on the third turn he and Denny both went spinning, collecting several other cars and another original lineup restart was called. Doug once again got the lead. A yellow flew as parts came from Denny's car and he couldn't make it off the track. On the restart Doug left the field behind as he collected the win, his third of the season.

Factory Stock heat race winners were Joey Davenport, Girard, Kan., and Tiny Joles, Fort Scott, Kan. Davenport got the lead at the start of the Feature and built up a good lead, which was erased as a yellow flag flew. On the restart, Slade Williams got the lead. Tiny Joles got several bumper tags from Foxie Sumner, which finally sent him spinning into the infield from his third place position. Williams maintained the lead through the balance of the race to claim the win, his third of the season.

Mini Stock heat race winners were Brandon Leer, Nevada, and Brent Knight, Jasper. Leer and Knight started on the front row of the Feature. Knight took the lead at the start but got out of the groove on the high side of the track, allowing Leer to gain the lead. As Leer and Knight raced for the lead, they left the balance of the field behind. As they came up to lap three cars racing for position, Knight tried to go in the middle and gained the lead for about a car length. Leer went low around these cars and regained the lead. Chuck Godsey and Craig Burchett collided and got their bumpers locked together, bringing out the yellow flag so they could be pried apart. This closed up the field behind Leer for the restart. Leer was able to hold off Knight and collected the win, his fourth win of the season.
