David Dean Winship

David Dean Winship, 63, Nevada, Mo., died Friday, Nov. 18, 2005, at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada. He was born Feb. 25, 1942, in Fort Scott, Kan., to William Joshua Winship and Amy Louise Morris Winship. He married Arline Higgins on June 26, 1976, in Nevada. She survives of the home.

David was born in Fort Scott and reared in Devon, Kan. He made his living as a meat cuttcr and was currently employed at Food Fair in Rich Hill. He came to Nevada in the early 1970s and has resided here since.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Arline, include two daughters, Diane Jones, Pooler, Ga., Rita Winship, Eureka Springs, Ark.; one son, James Winship, Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard Winship, Lee's Summit, Mo., William "Bud" Winship, Overland Park, Kan.; and one sister, Sandra Dye, Rock Springs, Wyo. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Newton, and one brother, John Winship.

Graveside services will be, held at 11 a.m., on Monday, Nov. 21, at Newton Burial Park, Nevada, with John Nichols officiating. Friends may call now and until 9 a.m., Monday, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada. Friends may gather at 10:45 a.m. on Monday morning at the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Terry Higgins, Jerry Ekis, Mike Winship, Scott Gronberg, Jeff Messmer, Tom Rasmussen, Bill Wetter and Gary Rodieck. Memorials may be given to the Vernon County Cancer Relief Fund in care of Betty Easley, 167 Country Club Dr., Nevada, MO 64772.
