Lloyd Eugene Gibson Sr., 57, Nevada, Mo., died Monday, Dec. 12, 2005, at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born April 17, 1948, in Saint Joseph, Mo., to Bert Ralph Gibson and Pauline Maxine Todd Gibson. He married Lydia Marie Zell on June 7, 1974, in California, and she survives of the home.

Lloyd served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969-'75. He served two tours in Vietnam and received two purple hearts and a bronze star. He was an assistant scout leader for the Boy Scouts and a member of the American Legion in Jefferson City, Mo. Lloyd was a retired truck driver. He and his wife had lived in Nevada since 2002, moving here from Monett, Mo. He had also lived in California and Washington. He was an avid fisherman and canoeist.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Lydia, include two sons, Lloyd E. Gibson Jr., Olathe, Kan., and Lukas Gibson, Nevada; two grandchildren, Shania Gibson and Scott Gibson; one sister, Ruth Gibson, Monett; one brother, Jerry Gibson, Kansas City, Mo., numerous nieces, nephews, and one godchild, Desiree Silvas, Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., on Thursday, Dec. 15, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, with Pastor Terry Mosher officiating. Committal will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada.
