Tiger wrestlers place five at Belton tournament

The Nevada Tigers wrestled in the Bank-of-Belton Invitational Friday and Saturday, their final event until January for the grapplers.

Five Tigers placed at the tournament.

Cole Bond, wrestling in the 152-pound class, brought home Nevada's only championship.

Placing second for Nevada was Spenser Daniels at 171 pounds.

Ryan Herda brought home fourth place at 189 pounds for the Tigers.

Nevada had two wrestlers finish fifth.

Colby Shepherd was fifth at 130 pounds and Nick Nelson finished likewise at 135 pounds.

As a team the Tigers placed fifth. The winner of the tournament was Branson with 349.5 points.

The Tigers finished with 244 points overall.

Nevada's next varsity competition will be Jan. 3, when they host Carl Junction. It will be Nevada's annual mat-warming.

The Nevada junior varsity has a tournament scheduled Dec. 29, at Ray-Pec.

The Tigers will then be in action on Jan. 5 at home against McDonald County, their final home match of the season.
