Sunday, January 1, 2006

The children and spouses of Harold and Lucille Shumaker, life-long residents of Nevada, will host an open house Jan. 1, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Super 8's meeting room in Nevada, to celebrate the 65th wedding anniversary of their parents. All are welcome; omission of gifts is requested.

The Shumakers were married on Jan. 1, 1941, in Nevada. Harold worked at Emery's Feed and later the Nevada State Hospital, retiring in 1984. He has farmed all his life and currently raises cattle and cuts wood, with Lucille's help. She was employed by Manlove's Nursing Home, the Hat Factory, Nelly Don and Junior House, retiring in 1986. Both enjoy attending senior dances in the area.

The Shumakers children are Leon and Margaret Shumaker, Henry and Polly Shumaker, Ralph and Sandi Shumaker, Raymond and Barbara Shumaker and Don and May Hutchison, all of Nevada; 11 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
